When the first-ever official contender for tallest sandcastle was verified in 1993, it stood at an impressive 6.56 m (21 ft 6 in) high.

My how times have changed.

Breaking this record for the fourth time in the last 10 years, American sculptor Ed Jarrett has upped the latest measurement to an astounding 11.63 m (38 ft 2 in), constructing his masterwork right off of Jenkinson's Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey.

The project took weeks of construction and hundreds of volunteers before its unveiling at the end of October. Now you can watch it all unfold in a mere 22 seconds!

Dubbed "Sandy Castle" due to its original intention to raise money to support those devasted by 2012's Superstorm Sandy, the opus has served as its own symbol of resiliency.

Originally started in June, the castle suffered a structural collapse shortly before its initial completion. Jarrett and his group then restarted the build after Labor Day, continuing undeterred. It joins record castles built by Jarrett in 2003 (Maine), 2007 (Maine), and 2011 (Connecticut).

The entire fundraising effort has raised more than $50,000 to date for the charity Hometown Heroes.
