Congratulations if you're running the Virgin London Marathon this year.

Guinness World Records is partnered with the Virgin London Marathon to provide runners with record verification on the day of the race.

At the 2012 event over 150 runners attempted to break an incredible selection of Guinness World Records ranging from theFastest Marathon Hula Hoopingto theFastest Marathon in a Two-Person Pantomime Horse Costume.  Twenty-nine records were achieved on the day.

You can help make the 2013 Virgin London Marathon the best yet by attempting to break a world record on the day.

It's a great way of raising awareness and funds for your charity; and who knows, you might make history!

The record for the fastest marathon on stilts is 6 hr 50 min 02 sec and was achieved by George and Charley Phillips (both UK), pictured below, at the 2012 Virgin London Marathon in London, UK, on 22 April 2012.

Brother and sister George and Charley have been walking on stilts since the age of 8.

Fastest marathon run by a married couple - aggregate time
The fastest marathon by a married couple on aggregate time was 5 hours 42 minutes 11 seconds by David and Claire Grima (both UK) at the 2011 Virgin London Marathon in London, UK, on 17 April 2011. 

David's time was 2:53:01 and Claire's time was 2:49:10.

Record Detail The fastest marathon run by parent and child on aggregate was 5 hr 42 min 01 sec by Jeffery Whittington and his son Russell Whittington (both UK) at the 2012 Virgin London Marathon in London, UK, on 22 April 2012. Russell finished in 2 hr 42 min 07 sec and Jeffery in 2 hr 59 min 54 sec.

The fastest marathon by a parent and child (mixed) was 6 hr 22 min 05 sec by Libby Collinson and her son Richard Collinson at the 2011 Virgin London Marathon in London, UK, on 17 April 2011. Libby finished in 3 hr 36 min 39 sec while Richard finished in 2 hr 45 min 26 sec.

Record Detail The most money raised for charity by an individual marathon runner is £2,330,159.38 ($3,795,581.14) and was set by Steve Chalke (UK) who raised the money for Oasis UK by completing the Virgin London Marathon, London, UK, on 17 April 2011.

Oasis is a UK based charity that works with vulnerable young people, families and communities in the UK and across the world.
