China became home to a new Guinness World Record this month when 2,012 people took part in the largest lute ensemble in Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province.

Liaoyuan City is well known for its lute players and is referred to as the "hometown of lute" in China.

The event was held to celebrate the Liaoyuan Pipa Art Festival.

The participants included students from Xian Shun Pipa School and other lute players from around the world.

Playing the famous "Dance of Golden Snake", the lute ensemble performance lasted for 5 minutes and 30 seconds.
