The record for the longest single line of dancers was set this week by Walkway Over The Hudson (USA), consisting of 2,569 participants in Poughkeepsie, New York, USA.

The event was broadcast live on an AM radio station from the center of the bridge, and volunteers and participants brought radios to provide a way for participants to tune in and simultaneously dance.

Participants danced to a rendition of the "Hokey Pokey" created specifically for the event by singer and storyteller Laurie "Story Laurie" McIntosh, with help from Rosendale musician and producer Dean Jones.

According to event sources, the record attempt served as one of Walkway Over the Hudson's main fundraising events for 2012.
