The O Music Awards, coming up on 27 June, will not only be home to the annual celebration of digital music culture -- it will also be home to The Flaming Lips' attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most live concerts in 24 hours (multiple cities).

The Flaming Lips will board a tricked-out bus and zigzag across the Mississippi Delta region in attempt to break the current record of 7 cities, held by Jay-Z.

Hitting a total of 8 cities in the birthplace of rock 'n' roll, The Flaming Lips plan to start in Memphis and end in New Orleans.

"Like when the Sex Pistols did their one and only American tour, the weird mid-south (Memphis to New Orleans), has something very absurd about it when contrasted with radical visionary musicians," said Wayne Coyne, lead singer of The Flaming Lips. "I've accepted the attempt at breaking the world record of performing 8 shows in 24 hours… To play and sing Flaming Lips songs at 8:00 in the morning… well, I'm open to new experiences…"

The O Music Awards has carved out 3 Guinness World Records in prior years.

During the inaugural O Music Awards in 2011, rapper Chiddy of Chiddy Bang snagged two Guinness World Records titles for the Longest Freestyle Rap and the Longest Marathon Rapping record after rapping for 9 hours, 16 minutes and 22 seconds.

For O Music Awards 2, a group of 13 dancers assembled at LA's famed club The Roxy to perform the longest team dance marathon.
