Hundreds of people chipped in this April to create and devour a 4,689-pound serving of nachos in Lawrence, Kansas, USA. At 80 feet long, three feet wide and more than 10 inches deep, the cheesy creation has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's largest serving of nachos.

Event hospitality provider Centerplate, Mexican restaurant Salty Iguana, the University of Kansas Athletics Department, and Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen (L.I.N.K.) collaborated to prepare the massive amount of nachos.

The record wasn't broken without some setbacks, however. A cooler broke on the evening before the event, losing almost 2,000 pounds of product. Volunteers had to act fast to bring as much food as they could, and Philip Tillman, concessions manager for KU, made trips to nearby stores to purchase the rest.

In the end, the nachos contained 765 pounds of nacho chips, 405 pounds of salsa, 323 pounds of tomato, 918 pounds of meat and beans, and more than 2200 pounds of cheese.

Proceeds from the event went to L.I.N.K., a charity which provides meals for low-income families.
