The odds on winning on a scratchcard are often long, but a special ticket unveiled in New Hampshire (USA) at the weekend was longer than your average.
New Hampshire Motor Speedway and New Hampshire Lottery Commission set a Guinness World Record with a massive winning ticket measuring an incredible 36.2 ft tall and 18.8 ft wide that was shown off ahead of the ahead of the Sylvania 300 NASCAR race last Thursday.
So big it required a scissor-lift to raise one lucky individual to scratch it and reveal the winning numbers, the giant card was measured by Doug Blais, an independent surveyor from Southern New Hampshire University under the watchful eye of Guinness World Record adjudicator Philip Robertson.
Upon further inspection of the ticket and its measurements, Philip was able to declare a new record with the ticket surpassing the previous record held by the Golden Casket Lottery of Australia.
The new record breaking scratch card was a replica of the $1 million Cash Spectacular tickets on sale at the race track by the New Hampshire Lottery Commision.
Norman Blanchette of South Hampton, Massecusetts was chosen by NHMS and the New Hampshire Lottery to scratch off the ticket and in the process won a VIP experience to the 2012 LENOX Industrial Tools 301 July NASCAR weekend including a helicopter ride to the race, two suite seats and a visit to the track's victory lane after the race.
