Last month saw a new record for the world's largest shirt mosaic set in Istanbul, Turkey.

The attempt, which took place at Forum Istanbul , one of Europe's largest shopping malls, saw a mosaic built from an incredible 3.937 shirts.

The event was organised by Portuguese childrens clothing brand Zippy Kidstore, who were celebrating the launch of their second branch in Turkey.

The attempt began at around 10:00 am on September 10th, with all the participants taking their places in the shopping mall, with the aim of creating Zippy's logo in a record-breaking mosaic made up of red and white children's t-shirts.

Event management team Realizar/The Bee worked with a crew of ten people, who placed the t-shirts on a large, oval shaped canvas one by one as the famous Turkish comedian and TV presenter Mr. Ceyhun entertained a gathered crowd of onlookers.

When the clock eventually hit 6:00 pm, Zippy Kidstore's executive Mr. Joao Oliveira Silva and Forum Istanbul's Marketing Director Mrs. Binnaz Dinçer placed the last 2 t-shirts on the mosaic, marking the end of the attempt.

The previous record of 2,070 t-shirts had belonged to Japanese clothing firm Onward Kashiyama, but Zippy successfully broke this record by some margin, with the mosaic having a surface area measuring 9.86 m in height (32ft 4in) and 10.15m in width (33ft 3in).

Mr. Joao Oliveira Silva and The Realizar/The Bee team were presented with their well-earned Guinness World Records certificate, before declaring that all the t-shirts used in the attempt would be donated to a children's charity foundation.

Zippy is already planning to open up more branches in Turkey in the future - let's see what other records they will attempt to break!
