How do I become a Guinness World Record Holder?
- Firstly you will need to log in the Members Area and complete the online application form.
For more information about the registration please click here.
- From the Members Area you can apply for a record by clicking on the blue animated image on the right hand side of the screen ("MAKE A RECORD ATTEMPT").
- Read the instruction on the screen to proceed with your application. It is highly recommended that
you are connected to a printer, as you may wish to print several pages for reference.
- If you are interested in multiple records/claims, you will need to fill out a separate proposal form
for each individual record/claim.
- You can choose to submit a Standard Application or a Fast Track Application. The Standard Application
is totally free and requires 4 to 6 weeks to be processed. If your claim is of an urgent nature you are
welcome to choose the Fast Track Application, which will enable you to receive a reply in only 3 working
days. To find out more about Fast Track, please click here.
- Once you submit your claim we will email you the Agreement Regarding Record Attempt. In the email you
will also find a CLAIM ID number which refers to your application and must be copied on the Agreement.
Please be aware that it will take from one to three working days for this email to be sent to
you.
- You must read, sign and send the Agreement Regarding Record Attempt back to us via fax, the numbers
are contained within the email you will receive.
- PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL NOT ENTER INTO ANY CORRESPONDENCE REGARDING YOUR CLAIM UNTIL WE HAVE
RECEIVED THIS.
- Once we have received your signed Agreement, it will then take 4 to 6 weeks for us to research
and consider your record proposal. Occasionally this may take longer as we may need to consult
external experts. During this period, we may contact you for more information on your attempt in
order to make a more qualified judgement on your proposal. Please be assured that we will endeavour
to get an answer to you as quickly as possible. If you require a quicker answer you may use our
Fast Track service.
- Once a decision is made we will send you an email stating our decision. This will be either:
- A rejection of your proposal – and where we can, we will give more specific details
of our decision in this regard.
- An acceptance of your proposal as a new Guinness World Record category with specific
guidelines attached. Together with the guidelines you will receive the Records Breakers Pack.
- A suggestion of a record that we already monitor as your proposal is similar enough to the
established category.
- Once you have received this, you can then plan and make your attempt, following our guidelines.
When making an attempt please remember to collect ALL the evidence as outlined in the Record Breakers
Pack and the specific guidelines.
- You must then send in the evidence in one package, with your CLAIM ID number clearly marked on
both the outside of the package and on each piece of evidence you submit.
- Once we have received this, it will again take around 6 to 8 weeks for us to assess your claim and
come to a decision. If you need an urgent assessment of your claim, you can apply for a
Fast Track of your claim.
- If your claim has been unsuccessful, you will be sent an email outlining where the problems
with the claim were. If successful, you will be sent a letter and Guinness World Records certificate
in recognition of your record breaking achievement.
We would now invite you to print this page for reference and login above to start the
application process.
Thank you for your interest in Guinness World Records and good luck!!
