The Brief
Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development wanted to highlight Ras Al Khaimah as a global tourism destination and launch their latest adventure tourism product - The world’s Longest zip wire.
They wanted to earn regional and global recognition in the tourism arena and create an event that would help them drive their initiatives in attracting a million visitors.
The Solution
To help generate global and regional awareness, Ras Al Khaimah called upon Guinness World Records to make their latest attraction record-breaking and add the official stamp of authenticity.
After verification from the official Guinness Worlds Records™ adjudicator, a certificate was presented to HH Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, at an event with senior officials and the media.
HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saqr Al Qasimi was the first to trial the new zip line after the installation.
The world’s Longest zip wire measures 2832.88 metres - which is more than 28 football pitches - and spans the chasm of Jebel Jais, the UAE’s largest mountain peak at 1,934 metres above sea level.
It opened to the public on 1 January 2018.
"This is a superb end to a year of great achievement for Ras Al Khaimah’s international tourism ambitions."
