The Brief

To help boost their earned presence during their 2015 end of financial year campaign, Medibank wanted to inspire people to get active.
As they are the largest private health fund in Australia, they were looking for a physical activity that would inspire all Australians to take their first step towards better health and bring attention to Medibank’s wide range of health covers.

The Solution

To help Medibank create a world-class experience and inspire people on their journey to better health, Medibank decided to go for the Guinness World Records title Largest spin lesson.

Medibank, Cadel Evans and Base Body Babes used the Guinness World Records Official Record Attempt logo before and during the record attempt, to attract people to be part of the class.

Cadel Evans, Tour de France winner and Medibank Ambassador, kicked off the event live from Milan and rode along with participants at the event in Sydney’s International Passenger Terminal. Fitness duo Base Body Babes led the high energy 45 minute class, with people of every fitness level taking part. A Guinness World Records adjudicator was present to ensure the rules were followed and to present the certificate following a successful attempt.

Thanks to Guinness World Records, Base Body Babes and Cadel Evans support, Medibank’s message around ‘taking the first step to better health’ was broadcasted loud and clear on national level through TV, radio, editorial and blogs. Not to mention countless social posts through Facebook and Twitter. 283 participants arrived on the day to be part of the record-breaking lesson.

It was fantastic to see hundreds of smiling faces today, all exercising together to achieve a World Record - it really shows just how much fun being healthy can be.
