The Brief

For its 25th anniversary, Meadowhall shopping centre, the 4th largest in the UK receiving 30 million visitors each year, organised a spectacular weekend of celebrations to entertain its visitors.

Meadowhall was seeking an activity-based, interactive event that would provide visitors with a way to partake in the celebrations for both children and adults alike.

The Solution

Meadowhall decided to host a Guinness World Records Live! event, providing passers-by with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, to become Guinness World Records record holders across the weekend extravaganza.

With plenty of fun for all the family, shoppers could practice and attempt three official Guinness World Records titles: Fastest time to stack giant Lego bricks; Most t-shirts put on in 30 seconds (team of 2); and Most hand claps back to front in 30 seconds.

The activity was really popular with hundreds of Meadowhall visitors stopping to watch the official attempts and with one dedicated visitor managing to break the Guinness World Records title for the Most hand claps back to front! The event was a huge success for Meadowhall, enabling them to engage with their loyal shopper audience, boost footfall and provide a truly unforgettable record-breaking experience.

It was a brilliant activity. The customers loved it and there was a steady level of interest throughout the day. We are so thrilled that we managed to get a new record holder too… what a great memory and accolade to come from our Birthday celebrations!
