The Brief

Henning-Olsen, a modern ice cream factory in Norway, wanted to celebrate its success and maintain its strong position in the competitive ice-cream market.

The popular family run ice-cream company were seeking an idea that would engage their consumers with the return of 'Krone-Is’ a popular cone classic produced by the company.

The Solution

Hennig-Olsen decided to place the ice-cream "Krone-Is" at the center of this promotional campaign, with an attempt to break the existent record title for The Tallest ice cream cone, which was to be unveiled at the start of the popular Tall Ships Race at Kristianstad - the biggest cultural event of the year in Southern Norway.

In order to break the existent record set in Italy in 2011, Hennig-Olsen had to build an ice cream that measured at least 2.82m high. Standing 3.08 m high and weighing almost a tonne, the completed cone contained 1,080 litres of ice cream, plus 60 litres of chocolate and 110 kg of waffle biscuit.

The super-sized ice cream, was airlifted by helicopter from the ice cream factory to Kristiansand as with all big food attempts, Henning-Olsen had to ensure that the ice cream was not wasted, a rule that the Tall Ships Race attendees approved of as 10,000+ got to enjoy a scoop of the record breaking cone.

A Guinness World Records title is the highest recognition a world achievement can have. We are happy to announce that we fulfilled the requirement and achieved our goal.
