The Brief
For the first time, the Event & Visual Communication Association (EVCOM) Awards, teamed up with the Meetings Industry Marketing Awards (MIMA) to celebrate the best of the best from the events industry.
To recognise the hard work and magnificent achievements of attendees, EVCOM wanted to break a Guinness World Records™ title that would unite and energise the audience, whilst celebrating the industry’s successes.
The Solution
The Records Lab, the in-house consultancy team at Guinness World Records, instantly knew there was only one option for this type of event; Engage to Unite. As part of the employee engagement programme, it presents the opportunity for everyone to work towards the same goal and achieve something completely unique.
After brainstorming ideas in their creative sessions, the brand new title Longest party popper relay, was developed to meet the objectives from the brief and to make it a memorable evening.
To create an exciting build up to the official attempt, the Guinness World Records MC and coaches fired up the audience and walked them through the guidelines and techniques, ensuring they had the best chance possible of achieving success. A new Guinness World Records title was indeed set, with a total of 355 people joining in the fun and adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
The official adjudicator capped off the evening by providing instant verification and presented the world-famous certificate to Jenny Jenkins, CEO of EVCOM and EVCOM Director, Andrew Winterburn.
"We attempted a Guinness World Records title to differentiate our awards ceremony from others in the market and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. With 100% participation, our thanks go to the team at GWR who ensured that this segment was fast-paced and added to the excitement of the awards ceremony overall."
