The Brief

Major international cruise line company, Carnival UK - whose brands include well-known P&O Cruises and Cunard, wanted to replace its usual annual daytime offsite conference for UK teams with an event at its offices in Southampton; the event should help internally launch their new company values whilst simultaneously kicking off their Summer of Happiness programme, a programme introduced this year that consists of 8 engagement events.

The Solution

Guinness World Records, along with Carnival UK, saw an opportunity to engage the full breadth of the Carnival UK team - both in their UK head office in Southampton, and onboard their ships around the world. Four record titles were incorporated into the day – a mass participation record that would include contributions from colleagues in head office and from crew and Officers around the world, and three titles that could be attempted by colleagues on the day that each represented one of the three main onboard ship departments; hotel, deck and technical.

  • Bringing to life Carnival UK’s new brand values
  • Creating an engaging and immersive experience

The event was an exciting departure from their usual annual daytime offsite conference at a local hotel and received positive acclaim from staff. Using Guinness World Records’ Employee Engagement activities throughout the day Carnival UK’s team broke six world records in a highly memorable day that successfully helped to reflect and highlight their new brand values.
