Most tattoos in 24 hours
On October 27th Guinness World Record adjudicator, Jennifer Gilmour arrived at the Rat- A-Tac-Tat Tattoo shop in Tyler, Texas to witness the attempt by Derek Kastning for the Most tattoos given by an individual in 24 hours.
Tyler, Texas is known as the “Rose Capital of America” but it wasn’t a picture of a rose being tattooed at the Rat-A-Tac-Tat Tattoo Shop, it was another famous symbol of Texas, the star! Hundreds of citizens of the Lone Star state gathered at the shop to make history, standing on lines for hours to have this special symbol attached to their bodies in support of Derek’s record attempt. Many were willing to suffer through getting several tattoos at a time so that they can be a part of history.
Derek’s goal was to break the previous record of 415 tattoos, and he had 24 hours to do it! But he surpassed that record within 11 hours! He continued on for the remaining 13 hours and set the new record at 726!
After a full 24 hours of tattooing, Derek and his family and friends were all fatigued, but excited about surpassing the existing record.
When asked what he would do next, Derek responded “Go home and sleep, then come back on Tuesday morning because we’ll be open for business”.
All of the proceeds from this event were donated to the Humane Society of East Texas.
