Largest piñata
2 November 2008- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Carnival Cruise Lines took aim at a second Guinness World Record, and swung a direct hit into history by creating the “Largest Piñata” on the planet.
Carnival cracked open their new place in the record books, by building their piñata an epic 18.39 metres (60 ft 3 in) in length, 7.28 metres (23 ft 8 in) in width, and 18.85 metres (61 ft 8 in) in height. Easily surpassing the previous record in all dimensions, this decidedly decorative donkey was also filled with assorted candies - approximately 4,000 pounds (1,814 Kg) according to event organizers - for the crowd gathered.
Resembling a psychedelic Trojan horse, the piñata stood stoically still on the windy Sunday afternoon while hundreds of city residents encircled the structure with curiosity and awe. With patches of rainbow colored “fur” slapping and clapping in the wind, the crowd cheered noisily to welcome Carnival Cruise Line’s piñata to this memorable Philadelphian fiesta!
