Largest line of pizzas
15 November 2008 - Austin, Texas
In the distance, a man-sized reptile lurked about the Texas grassland’s rolling hills, and inched its way closer to hundreds of unsuspecting people in the valley below.
The reptile focused its menacing gaze on Bella, a small brunette girl it isolated from the crowd, then lifted its olive-colored claw and powerfully slashed…a congratulatory “thumbs up” to celebrate Mangia Pizza’s new Guinness World Record!
The reptile known as Mangiasaurus Rex – the restaurant’s affectionately named mascot - paraded along the serpentine 1,023 foot (311.81 m) line of pepperoni and cheese pizzas set up along the hills of a downtown Austin recreational park.
The record attempt was organized by Mangia Pizza as part of the restaurant’s 20th anniversary celebration, and also as a civic-minded way to give back to the community.
Immediately following the delicious victory, the pizzas were swiftly boxed and distributed to area residents by Meals on Wheels and More: a service organization that “seeks to nourish and enrich the lives of the homebound and other people in need.”
