Largest gathering of people dressed as Wally

Where do you go for the easiest game of Where’s Wally? As the rain hammered down in South-East England there was concern that finding Wally(s) was going to be harder than first thought. But the lure of a second Guinness World Record in as many years for students at the University of Kent - they already hold the record for the largest robot dance - was more than enough to bring Wally out of hiding.

As the crowd swelled, Guinness World Records adjudicator, Ralph Hannah, found himself engulfed in a sea of red and white. The organisers had created a ‘Wally costume centre’ where, for a small donation to charity, you were able to get a striped t-shirt (spray painted on site), an official Where’s Wally bobble hat and have black glasses painted on. Once the Wallys had gathered together they took part in a game of musical statues while the final head count was confirmed.

After the game finished with what was possibly the first ever Wally dance-off, Ralph Hannah was delighted to announce that with 127 Wallys, the University of Kent had set a new Guinness World Record. Ollie Goulding accepted a certificate on behalf of the participating students and the Kent Kids ‘Miles of Smiles’ charity which the record attempt had helped raise money for.

One final reminder, if someone asks you “Where’s Wally?” the chances are he is in Cantebury, United Kingdom.
