A team of 6 lawyers from Sky set a new Guinness World Record on Saturday 30 August 2008 for the Longest distance run three-legged in 24 hours.

The three-legged legal eagles started out at 8:30am from Richmond Park in West London. Having done a lap of the park they then headed along the river to Putney, before taking the Kings Road into town. On their way they passed historic London sights including Battersea Power Station, the London Eye,Nelson’s column and Buckingham Palace much to the delight of tourists visiting the captial. They got to the finish line at the Malawian High Commission on Grosvenor Street at about 4:30pm before heading for a well deserved dinner and celebration in Soho.

As a team of three pairs, the Sky employees walked a total of 61 miles between them. If that were not a big enough challenge in itself, they did this in traditional African dress. On the hottest day in August, with temperature’s reaching a sweltering 27 degrees, the brightly coloured African clothing worn by the team helped to keep them cool.

The team raised much needed funds for projects in Malawi. The team has so far raised an impressive £7,000. In Malawi there is currently 1 teacher to every 61 pupils. Rural communities are in desperate need of teacher's accommodation to encourage teachers to move to those areas in need of their help. The funds raised will help go to build accomodation to meet this need.
