Largest Handprint Painting
On 26 March 2008, RasGas Company Limited, one of Qatar's leading producers of liquefied natural gas (LNG), achieved a Guinness World Record after creating the largest handprint painting ever made, with a record breaking 2,500 square meters, painting displaying the RasGas logo.
A Guinness World Records Adjudicator travelled from London to Doha, Qatar, to measure the artwork and check all the details relating to this impressive attempt. After an evaluation of the artwork, the new Guinness World Record was immediately approved and a certificate was presented to RasGas Managing Director, Mr. Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi.
In the handprint painting, over 1,400 RasGas onshore and offshore employees, including His Excellency, Minister of Finance of Qatar and RasGas Chairman, Yousef Kamal, together with various other members of the RasGas board, participated in this joint effort without knowing they were attempting a Guinness World Record. The surprise was unveiled at the Qatar Exhibition Centre, during the annual RasGas Employee Forum.
Commenting on the unique achievement, Mr Al Mohannadi said "Entering into Guinness World Records shows that RasGas enjoys record breaking of all kinds! This was a fun and proud achievement for RasGas and all our employees."
