Largest Easter Egg Hunt
Picture hundreds of thousands of brightly coloured Easter Eggs dotting the landscape
of Cypress Gardens, a theme park near Winter Haven, Florida
in the United States. Now, imagine the giggles of delight and shrieks
of joy as multitudes of egg-cited children scramble to gather
their Easter treasures. Cypress gardens C.E.O., Kent Buescher,
kicked-off the hunt, which saw more than 9,700 people literally throwing
themselves into the gardens to become part of their historic achievement.
After evaluating all details, Head of Records, Marco Frigatti, presented the
park with a certificate to officially recognise the record for hiding 510,000 candy-filled
eggs amongst the foliage!
It took less than an hour for more than half-million eggs to be collected by the
excited park guests. Around 1,000 eggs held special prizes donated by local
businesses, including the Grand Prize egg containing a two-year scholarship to
Polk Community College, which was discovered by six-year old! A special ceremony
was held at the park’s Magnolia Mansion to present the boy and his family with the
official scholarship certificate.
