The H J Lutcher Stark Center for Physical Culture & Sports

Based at the University of Texas in Austin, USA, the Stark Center is directed by Professor Jan Todd and houses the world's foremost collection dedicated to physical culture. Both Jan and her late husband, Terry Todd (1938–2018), have held world records in powerlifting. Jan also edits the journal Iron Games History and sits on the Committee for the Study of Human Strength, which is striving to regulate strength sports.

The greatest weight ever lifted by a human being is 2,422.18 kilograms (5,340 pounds) for two cars with drivers on a platform backlifted by Gregg Ernst (Canada, b. 30 September 1961), performed and notarized at South Shore Exhibition in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada, on 28 July 1993.
